Yes, it’s true. They were trying really hard. I barely survived… They tried to starve me to death… tricky bastards.
I’ve been to the Christmas Market in Strasbourg. I was hungry. I wanted something to eat. And what did they offer? Crêpes, crêpes, crêpes, more crêpes and of course crêpes. Don’t get me wrong, crêpes are good… but they don’t count as food when I’m hungry. Tarte flambée was the only thing that somehow resembled food instead of dessert, but still not sufficient.
After searching for over half an hour, we finally stumbled on a booth that offered hot dogs. Interestingly that was an additional booth to a regular shop. They must’ve figured that some people prefer real food. Prolly made more money over the period of the market than during the whole year.
I’ll never again use any related terms to France and food together in a favorable meaning.

Stupid, the trick is to get your fill of crepes all in one day. Banana, nutella, strawberry, maple syrup… all in one day, repeatedly until you’re so sick of them that you have your fill until the next year’s visit

Oh, I see. Silly me, never thought of that. I try that next time and bring along a barf bag
