Drive-Through Election

Ballots in a parking lot. Drive-through election… wtf? Sounds like a republican idea for fastfood america. It’s like driving to McDonalds. A president? You want fries with that? Oh yeah vote McCain (fries). Sublimal, tricky even. They try everything these days.

Is it just me that thinks the US elections are fun? For example, the most stuff Palin says or does is pure comedy. Too bad it will be over soon.

(Of course German politics can be fun as well. Like Hessen, where the parties are working on forming a government since the end of january.)

Back from holiday

… and a bit more. Lemme see… a bit over 2 months… well, no one would belive I got that much holiday saved up.

First coffee after two weeks… oh, sweet coffee machine, I didn’t know how much I missed you.

Anyway, for a small update: Photographing again, riding my bike again, created three characters for DnD (a druid with shapeshifting focus can be difficult… I needed seven books for that one), car at the shop again (funny story… after attempting to go for a small ride, shortly after the start I heard some gargling, only to find all the oil of my car on the street… the oil preassure was so high, that it pressed out the gasket of the oil filter… now they found out that the oil pump produces 8 bar permanentely… and should only do 2 bar at max) and today it’s been ten years since I started my apprenticeship and one year since I have less time on my time table, but more joy overall. The rest I forgot.

Oh, this is something new. Comment spam is getting a little more creative. Now it insults people and is posted with more than just one line. If they’d just use less obvious mail addresses, website urls and use a few words from the context to make it seem like it would be actually on topic, one might almost fall for them.

Different approaches

Let’s say your walking down the platform at the train station to the farther end of the train and you wonder if you can make it there before the train leaves.

My approach: I see a service wagon in front of train. It’s about to change tracks to make way. Adding some time for resetting the switch and the formalities, I assume I still have 1-2 minutes left.

Better approach: Turn the view about 5° from the current focus to the big clock, which is also at the end of the plattform and find out you still have 6 minutes before departure.

Why do I always instinctively choose the indirect way of doing things?
